let's imagine, since luckily we are not yet obliged to pay taxes for imagining things, that you came from the future to the present time, and met yourself.
let's imagine that you are not the one that came from the future, but the one that's here, now.
what would you ask that future you, about you? would you like to know what is the best work for you to succeed? would you like to ask yourself what path should you follow to be happy? should you marry that person? should you have kids? maybe, you would like to ask yourself whether you should buy that pricey car, or that pricey house, watch, computer, ...
would you not really care about what you would ask that future you about yourself, but rather ask him about the future itself? how will it be, will humanity solve it's problems? will all be the same? will it be worse? did we discover life in the universe?
sincerely, i don't think that your answers to this questions will tell you anything about yourself, but rather tell you what you care about right now, what is important to you now. if you cared more about the future itself, maybe you already are happy with what you've got :) and hey! it doesn't matter if your question was "should i buy that pen?", it's not selfish, our mission on this planet is to be happy, whilst not hurting anyone nor destroying this planet (and if we can help a bit, that would be gorgeous). if that pen is what makes you happy right now, that's ok, there will be a tomorrow, for you to care about something else :) who knows? maybe you go to the shop to buy the pen, and meet the person with which you will share the rest of your life, or cross a job opportunity that will change it, or ...
